Stephan R. Targan, MD is an award-winning researcher and leader in IBD. He currently serves as a Director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center at Cedars-Sinai. He also directs the F. Widjaja Foundation Inflammatory Bowel and Immunobiology Research Institute, where he leads a multidisciplinary research team at the Targan Laboratory focused on identifying biomarkers in order to develop new treatment plans tailored to individual patients, known as personalized medicine. Dr. Targan has been awarded various honorific titles including the Sherman Prize for Inspiring Excellence in Crohn's and Colitis in 2017, a Cedars-Sinai Pioneer in Medicine Award in, 2014, and a Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America Scientific Achievement Award in 2009.
